Kaneohe

Rain. Mountains. Green. Lush. Kaneohe.

July 2007
Kaneohe, Hawaii

The Whole Food's Local Artist Market event was sadly rained out today. Well, not quite. Weather.com anticipated rain, so everyone packed up and left the event as it started to drizzle. It's been cloudy all day, but it only sprinkled here and there (I've learned to never completely trust weather.com's predictions of Santa Barbara). I think it would have been worth staying (if everyone else didn't decide to leave), especially after putting so much effort into setting up a booth. Oh well. I will try again the first Saturday of July. I will persevere!

I somewhat despise the rain when I'm selling at events because I don't yet own a tent and all my stuff gets wet. But I used to love the rain... the rain is what makes Kaneohe so beautiful. It felt like it used to rain every day there. The rain brings the waterfalls pouring down the mountains... it refreshes the land, making everything so lush and green. There's nothing like taking a walk around the neighborhood while large, plump drops of warm rain cascade around you.

Kaneohe is my inspiration for my newest pair of earrings. Faceted blue paraiba quartz briolettes, emerald green spinel drops, and sea foam green rondelles are wire-wrapped and sway from hand-formed 14k gold filled hoop-like earwires.

Kaneohe will always be dear to my heart. I was able to only make two pairs of these earrings, and I've already decided to keep one of them for myself. A little bit of paradise for me. I actually wore them to the Whole Food's event today. Maybe I brought on the rain... (:
