Puka Shells

With Spring is in full swing and Summer just right around the corner, I can't help but feel inspired. From asymmetrical and layered necklaces to petite, dainty earrings, my newest designs are elegant, yet fit for tropical paradise. The trend seems to be that I want to keep every piece for myself...

The newest additions not yet available on Etsy are these beautiful Hawaiian Puka Shell Necklaces. I'm especially fond of the longer, asymmetrical one - the larger, white puka shell accented with a wisteria swirl is quite unique. The shells come straight from the shores of Oahu, Hawaii, carefully handpicked by my parents (just for me!) and not altered in anyway.

"Puka" is Hawaiian word for "hole". These shells are formed when the tops of cone shells break off. They then tumble in the surf and sand until the cone flattens and becomes a smooth, rounded shell fragment. The pointed part of the shell also wears down until a small hole begins to form in its place.

These, along with my other new designs, will be available for sale at Whole Foods' Local Artist Market tomorrow (Saturday, April 7) from 11am-5pm. I adore each and every piece in my collection, so I'm happy to offer little treasures that everyone can enjoy as well. Hope you'll stop by and say hello!
